Although acoustic music has had its share of "supergroups" over the years, few have had the diverse, impressive credentials, the musical chops, or the warped sense of humor of Psychograss. Consisting of mandolin whiz Mike Marshall, fiddler Darol Anger, bassist Todd Phillips, banjo giant Tony Trischka, and guitarist David Grier, the group takes bluegrass into the 21st century and appears to have a great time in the process. At the Telluride Bluegrass Festival four-fifths of the group (Mike Marshall was off playing with Edgar Meyer and Béla Fleck) agreed to talk about life, music, and subatomic particles.
