What is Hot Tuna?
(a) Something served with lemon and garlic on a bed of rice
(b) A fish trying to navigate the Equator
(c) One of the world's finest semi-electric interpreters of the blues

If you answered (c), you're probably also aware that this five-member ensemble are one of two offspring of the 60s premier acid rock band Jefferson Airplane. The nucleus is now and has always been the extraordinary guitar playing and singing of Jorma Kaukonen and the dexterous and rumbling bass guitar of Jack Casady. Along with Michael Falzarano on rhythm guitar and mandolin, Pete Sears on keyboard and accordion, and drummer Harvey Sorgen, the band is now touring in support of their new CD, Live at Stove's, recorded in Yokohama, Japan, last year. Band members are also working on a new studio album and moonlighting as teachers at Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch guitar camp. In addition, Casady doubles as bassist for "Airplane's" other progeny, Jefferson Starship: The Next Generation, and Sears has just released a new CD, Millennium, of solo improvisational piano pieces.
